Our circle workshops offer a structured and supportive space for girls and youth who identify with female development, ages 9 to 14. Rooted in a strengths-based approach, these workshops are designed to foster resilience, build authentic peer and mentor relationships, and provide opportunities for self-expression through sharing and creative activity.
Each group gathers in a safe, facilitated setting for two hours. Participants of similar age and developmental stage meet in a consistent group led by a trained facilitator. Sessions follow a six-step structure with simple, grounding rituals that create predictability, a sense of safety, and encourage open, respectful communication.
In each session, participants take turns listening and sharing their thoughts, experiences, concerns, and interests. In addition to verbal sharing, the circle includes expressive and reflective activities—such as journaling, drama, role play, movement, poetry, painting, collage, clay work, and advocacy efforts—to deepen connection and support self-discovery.
Themes explored in the workshops are relevant to the lives of youth and may include:
Celebrating Individuality, Celebrating Diversity, Trusting oneself, Friendships, Nurturing Me, Personal Goals, Communication, Conflict Resolution, Personal Boundaries, and Making Empowered Decisions.
Participation requires only a willingness to be part of the group, a commitment to attend regularly, and an agreement to uphold the circle’s core guidelines:
-
Trust that you will know what to say: No need to rehearse.
-
Listen from the heart: Let go of stories that make it hard to hear each other.
-
Speak from your heart: Your truth, your experiences, your perspectives.
-
Say just enough: Without feeling rushed, be concise and considerate of the time of others.
Youth are free to share at their own pace. Through consistent listening and mutual respect, participants reflect on their own experiences and connect more deeply with others. Rather than offering advice, the circle fosters critical thinking, empathy, and the sharing of personal insights in a space where every voice matters.
By engaging in these honest and creative conversations, participants build confidence and learn to express themselves more fully. Through examining cultural expectations and exploring their own values, needs, and talents, youth gain greater clarity and courage to make choices aligned with who they are and who they’re becoming.
